IoT-Projects for Makers

Website to the eBook

Different prototyping systems are available today to develop prototypes for the Internet of Things (IoT) or
to verify project ideas.

As a maker, you probably know the Arduino and Raspberry Pi platforms, M5Stack from M5Stack company, the Grove system from Seeed Studio, the Qwiic Connect system from Sparkfun, or the Click-Boards from mikroE. With these systems, you can solve various tasks. Still, many steps are necessary to get a finished device, e.g., autonomy usable as a sensor node in harsh environments, which can be tedious.

With WisBlock, RAKwireless has created a system that accompanies the entire development path to the
finished device using industrial-grade yet cost-effective components. Additionally, it offers the possibility
to integrate parts of the mentioned systems into WisBlock.

True to the philosophy „IoT Made Easy,“ RAKwireless has ensured with WisBlock that this new solution is
as simple as Click – Code – Connect!

I used Wisblock components in different IoT applications and will do it further. I have summarized my experiences with WisBlock in this eBook.

The applications use WisBlock sensors for temperature, humidity, pressure, light, VOC, and CO2, third-party sensors for environmental data, and fine dust, and a Modbus sensor for temperature & humidity. You will find OLED, TFT LCD, RGB LED, third-party WS2812, and M5Stack Displays on the display side.

Serial, BTSerial, I2C, WiFi, LoRaWAN, and Modbus RTU via RS-485 are used for communication. The visualization of measured data is on TTS (CE), Datacake for LoRaWAN, Thingspeak, WhatsApp, and Pushover for WiFi connection.
